Veneklasen Associates maintained a solid working relationship with DESIGNARC during George’s time there and provided acoustic consulting on many of their mixed-use and multifamily projects, drawing on their deep understanding of sound and impact noise isolation in lightweight wood construction in particular.

George was the lead acoustic designer on this 5-over-2 infill project which was strongly affected by traffic noise from Lankershim Boulevard. This project included many typical amenities as well as adjacencies with commercial space. The project was required to meet California Building Code for interior and exterior sound transmission in residential buildings as well as California Green Building code which applies to commercial spaces. To reduce owner exposure, Veneklasen’s policy is to design for performance in the case that post-construction acoustic testing is performed. George’s exposure to, training on, involvement in, and use of the thousands of field tests performed by Veneklasen over the last 3 decades on residential buildings was utilized in design of all partitions and glazing elements.
